The Indiana Jones franchise will now continue since Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have purchased the rights to the property.  Recently, talk in the industry has been that the role of Dr. Henry Jones Jr. recast for a new film in this globe-trotting adventure series, will be with Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt who is reported to be studio executives’ top choice to take the role.

Deadline is reporting that Steven Spielberg is also pushing for Pratt to become the new Indiana Jones (taking over the role from Harrison Ford) and that the Oscar-winning filmmaker is also interested in directing the movie himself. this of course would also be contingent on his approval of the script. However, Deadline cautions that all this “talk” is in the very early stages as there’s not even a screenwriter attached to the project as of yet. Pratt has stated that of given the chance to play the role of Dr. Jones he would give it serious consideration.
